Teaching Philosophy
I seek to enable students to become well-informed, well-balanced critical thinkers. As a teacher I encourage such growth by providing my students with a safe yet stimulating learning environment where they are encouraged to take risks, be creative, and learn to work together and independently. Key to this philosophy is the idea that students need help in building and maintaining a positive self-image and a sense of compassion toward others. This is accomplished by acknowledging students’ differences, tapping into students’ multiple intelligences, providing students with hands-on learning experiences and utilizing differentiated instruction. This invariably leads to students developing a life-long love of learning and taking an active role in their own education.
