Profile

My name is Lori Palmer and I am the occupational therapist at Suncoast School for Innovative Studies.  I am a native Sarasotan and have been practicing pediatric occupational therapy in the Sarasota area for sixteen years.  I have worked at SSIS for almost 6 years.  I received a Bachelor of Health Science degree, specializing in Occupational Therapy, from the University of Florida in 1992.  Go Gators!  I graduated from the University of South Florida in 1996 with a Master of Public Health, specializing in Maternal and Child Health.  As an OT, I have a strong interest in helping children find and use their inner strengths to become as independent and successful as possible.  A child’s “occupation” involves learning the necessary skills academically, socially and developmentally to prosper and succeed.  In OT, children develop improved handwriting skills, efficient eye-hand coordination, increased endurance and organizational skills to stay focused and complete class work and increased self confidence in their skills.
