Living in Miami gave me a lot of incentive to learn languages. As a child, there was some Spanish spoken in my neighborhood. By the time I reached high school, most of the students were speaking Spanish. This really inspired me to learn languages.
I believe in a progressive approach to teaching languages, which encourages repetition, word association & games. The use of a language lab helps students at all levels to work on the finer points and offers more ambitions students the opportunity to get ahead.
All students’ rights and safety are top priority and must be upheld and reinforced. The worth and dignity of each and every student must be valued regardless of age, race, color, gender, religious beliefs or for any other reason. Every student must have the freedom to learn and to have access to diverse points of view so that each student can achieve her or his full potential.
When a child starts school, she or he receives one of the first strong impressions of society outside of her or his home. The educator is the face of society that the child will see and observe. The impression that the educator makes, can help to mold the life direction that the student will take and a model of how they might interact in society throughout their lives.
Some of the educators, who have taught me throughout my life, were unforgettable for their passion to teach and their dedication. There was never any doubt that they liked to teach and that they really were concerned that the students learned. These educators not only helped me to learn, but taught me how to learn. The memory of other uninspired educators has faded away.
The weight of this responsibility is not to be taken lightly. While making the preparations for the school year, it is imperative that the educator also make a thorough auto analysis and inventory of how she or he will act and react in a wide range of situations; how to talk to students, parents and staff to maintain a harmonious cooperation.
The educator should make an oath to her or himself, to measure what is said and to avoid expressing opinions about controversial issues, avoiding participation in gossip of other negative interactions. Rather, the educator should offer positive, proactive solutions to situations.
By dedicating myself to my task as teacher, I will strive to not only teach students, but teach students how to learn. I will strive to provide model for students, teachers and parents alike.
